UEH AI Chatbot – Smart virtual assistant in the educational utility ecosystem of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics

Officially launched in April 2025, UEH AI Chatbot quickly received attention from the community of parents and students, gradually affirming its role as a smart, convenient and reliable admissions and career counseling tool. To date, Chatbot has recorded nearly 1,500 uses, becoming an effective bridge between UEH and the community during the admissions season.

UEH AI Chatbot: A humane technology solution from understanding
UEH AI Chatbot is an artificial intelligence application solution designed specifically for the educational ecosystem of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (UEH), aiming to serve and answer all admissions and career counseling information for parents, students and potential learners of all levels/systems.

In a conversation with Vietnam Television – VTV9, UEH shared more deeply about the journey of building and deploying this special tool.

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Bui Quang Hung – Deputy Director of UEH shared: “The birth of UEH Chatbot AI has continued to mark an important step forward in the digital transformation journey at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, aiming to build a smart, modern and world-class educational ecosystem. This is one of UEH’s efforts in applying advanced technology, aiming at a multidisciplinary, sustainable University and leading the trend of digital education in the current era. In addition to UEH Chatbot AI, UEH has also pioneered the application of AI in many teaching and school operations such as: launching an application (App) to support the identification and classification of waste at the source based on AI; the “UEH Green Campus Game” platform applies game simulation technology (gamification) to train green living knowledge for learners; applying AI and camera systems to monitor online exams, …”

As a member of the research team, MSc. Le Thi Hanh An – Deputy Head of UEH’s Communications and Partner Development Department shared about the operating principle of the tool: “UEH AI Chatbot operates based on pre-built and pre-set question-and-answer scenarios, aiming to provide quick and accurate information to learners. However, in cases where the response content is not really suitable for specific needs, the system will automatically forward users to UEH’s learner care ecosystem (CRM) or connect directly with the operator to ensure that all questions are answered promptly, fully and accurately.”

Experience from learners: When technology accompanies the journey of future orientation
UEH AI Chatbot has gradually affirmed its usefulness in providing admission and career guidance information to students and parents.

Through the process of using, Nguyen Thi Tu Uyen, a grade 11 student at Nguyen Khuyen High School, said: “The feeling when using UEH’s AI Chatbot is very new. I often research and look up admission information at night, so it is difficult to contact teachers or fanpages for advice and immediate answers. I myself am still quite hesitant in choosing a suitable major, career or school. However, with this AI Chatbot friend, I have had all my questions answered 24/7, the information compiled by the school is very detailed, concise and easy to understand. This is very convenient and helps me orient myself in the future.”

As a first-year student studying at UEH, Tran Nguyen Giang Nam also commented that since UEH launched the AI Chatbot tool, looking up admission information has become faster and easier, saving more time for candidates compared to 2024.

Development orientation of UEH AI Chatbot in the future
In addition to the role of consulting and career guidance, UEH AI Chatbot will be upgraded and further improved, with the goal of becoming a comprehensive support tool for learners, lecturers, and civil servants at UEH through expanded features, including:

Support learners: Provide detailed information, class schedules and support to quickly answer questions for students, creating favorable conditions for the learning and research process.
Legal advice: Support to answer information about regulations, policies, and legal guidelines related to education and training, helping lecturers and legal consultants have a comprehensive and accurate view of legal issues.
Deploy virtual teaching assistant: Tool to set up a virtual assistant version for each lecturer, supporting to answer students’ questions quickly.
Measurement and evaluation: Set up indicators and evaluation criteria to measure the effectiveness of applying artificial intelligence chatbots in enrollment, student support, legal advice, and virtual lecturers, thereby making appropriate improvements and adjustments.

As technology develops, education also enters a new chapter: More flexible, intelligent and personalized. AI Chatbot gradually becomes a companion to the generation of Vietnamese students, opening up many opportunities for learning, teaching, and research.
