Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (UEH) trains Artificial Intelligence in an applied direction, with graduates receiving a starting salary of 10-20 million VND per month.
Artificial Intelligence is a field of computer science. This field researches and develops systems that simulate human intelligence, such as language translation software, self-driving cars, virtual assistants, customer chat software (chatbot), chess-playing software, poetry composition, filmmaking, etc.
About 50 universities and academies nationwide have opened Artificial Intelligence majors/programs, mainly technology and engineering schools.
Since last year, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (UEH) has attracted attention when participating in training this major. The training is technical, but still associated with the characteristics of an economic school, and graduates have incomes no less than other schools.
Curriculum
At UEH, the Artificial Intelligence major is divided into two programs, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, Intelligent Control and Automation, both with 155 credits, obtaining an engineering degree in 4 years. The total enrollment target is 140.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Truong Thinh, Director of the UEH Institute of Intelligent and Interactive Technology, said that the curriculum focuses on the basic engineering principles, foundations and science of robots, intelligent control and automation on the basis of artificial intelligence, applying knowledge to real projects.
“Students are equipped with basic knowledge in the fields of mechanics, electronics, information technology, from which to apply artificial intelligence technology to robot control, intelligent systems and automation in measurement, inspection and system monitoring activities”.
Job positions after graduation
At UEH, job positions are suggested in two groups of programs:
Robotics and artificial intelligence engineers
– Production managers, R&D engineers, QA engineers at companies manufacturing automated systems/robots.
– Robot programming engineers at companies with automated and intelligent machinery systems.
– Production and engineering managers; design, manufacturing, product development engineers at factories/companies with automated systems.
– Founders of high-tech startups.
– Managers/coordinators of digital transformation projects, product development and high technology.
– Coordinators of high-tech projects for organizations, companies, etc.
Intelligent control and automation engineers
– M&E engineers, operators, designers, controllers, automatic controllers.
– Systems experts, consultants, system engineers.
– Founding and operating a startup company in business and applying robotics technology, automation control, artificial intelligence.
– Researching and developing products in artificial intelligence/machine learning, automation and its applications on multiple platforms.
– Surveying, evaluating the market and drafting reports on development trends in the field of automation.
– Developing applications in intelligent automation.
Salary 10-50 million VND/month
Graduates in Artificial Intelligence from economic schools can receive income equivalent to students of this major at other schools.
As soon as they intern at a business, they can earn 7-10 million VND per month. The salary of new graduates and engineers currently ranges from 10-20 million VND, after 3-5 years it often increases 2-3 times.
“After 5 years of working, if you are capable of taking on the position of manager, production director, or expert, the salary can be over 50 million VND,” said Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Truong Thinh.
